Text

SHEN Qifeng, Chinese scholar of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) native of the Jiangsu Province, is known for his work Xieduo ("In the Classic Manner") published in China in 1792. In this work he told about a hundred fantastic stories where surnatural and realistic elements are mingled to give a vivid picture of his time. Rearranged in modern language, the rich details of his stories appeal to young readers while the subtle approach on the psychology of his heros strikes every sensitive mind.

Agata KAWA, author-illustrator of children's books, likes to combine shapes and senses. With delicate elegance, she aims at showing the essence of things beyond their appearence. Her romantic and poetic universe, rich in mysterious symbols, leads readers into a dreamy world. For Faithful Tiger, Agata KAWA bring forward her love of Art nouveau and the Victorian style so as to create a passage to certains aspects of the Chinese tradition no less extravagant.
